Education - - - - - - -

Continuing legal education sponsored by the national, state, and local associations is just one benefit of membership.

At its monthly meetings (Lunch & Learn), Waco LPA invites members of the local community to speak on a varity of legal topics.  The meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month and are open to members and non-members.

Texas ALP holds educational conferences each year in different locations around the state of Texas.

Through its Online Learning Center and Online Study Group, NALS provides members with the opportunity to learn over the internet, making CLE credits easily accessible.

Back To The Books, our annual continuing legal education day, is held on a Saturday each Fall.

Scholarship Program  - - - - - -

In 1969, Waco LPA adopted a Scholarship Memorials program.  Donations given in honor or memory of an individual are placed in a special fund used to provide scholarships for deserving students desiring to become legal secretaries, legal assistants, or paralegals.  The program is funded by donations in memory of someone or in honor of someone, in the amount of $25 or more; funds raised from raffles and auction items at our meetings; and profits resulting from educational seminars.  When memorial/honorary donations are made, the honoree/deceased person's name is placed on a plaque located on the 4th floor of the McLennan County Courthouse.  Recipients of scholarships are chosen based upon merit and ability.  Depending on the amount of funds available, Waco LPA awards one or more scholarships per year.  If you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund and invest in the future of a legal professional, contact Mary Teague, PP, PLS, Scholarship Chairman 755-4100 or mary@namanhowell.com
